So my weekend was a very intresting one that’s for sure, as I had my very first experience as a Kart Marshal at HKRC (Kimbolton)!

The weekend started out nice and early on Friday at 8:30 to get signed on, have some breakfast and then our briefing at 9:30 ready for the practice sessions that starter at 10:00 where I took turns with at Post 7 with my buddy on the green and yellow flags! The day went well and gave a good insight into what to look for and to be ready for plenty of flag waving!

The day ended as 6pm where I then setup camp for the night, joining in with some of the marshals for a couple of drinks, food and a good laugh!

On the Saturday we had the same times again and I was back to Post 7, getting more used to it for practice sessions, qualifying and a heat. Saturday was a bit more eventful with having to use the Red Flag, luckly the drivers are OK. I also got used to also getting the Slow Down Board and yellow flag (Kart equivalent of a safety car).

On the Sunday, I was put back onto the same Post 7 to help me get more used and comfortable with what to look for and plenty of race action on ghe day, luckly we didn’t need to use the Red Flag.

There was so much to learn on the day, but I also got praised for how well I done during thd weekend.

It was very intresting keeping an eye on the karts and everyone’s safety, and a couple of times yes I blinked and didn’t see a Kart suddenly spin off.

It was such an enjoyable experience and I was very welcomed by the team at Kimbolton and already booked in to go back next month!

My next Marahal experience will be at Silverstone for a 750cc event which I’m lookout forward to attending!
